Abbagirls
Biography.
The idea of the 'Abbagirls'
began in 1995. Kim Graham who plays the role of red head 'Frida' had always
been an ABBA fan along with her sister Karen - to some of you she may be familiar
as she takes the role of 'Agnetha' in Abba tribute band 'Abba Gold', UK Dancing
Queens - and felt a duo girl group would be a hit with the
public and also provide something different. A duo could fit anywhere, do
smaller venues, something a full group could not, and still continue provide
a high quality show. Kim pursued the idea further found 'Agnetha' and took
to the road. Eleven years later, 2006 and the 'Abbagirls' are stronger than
ever. Playing large festivals, concert halls and even Las Vegas! And they
still play the local village halls and support fund raising shows.
Kim is a professional vocalist. She started her career touring with various
bands throughout the UK and Europe, having worked with some of the top musical
directors and groups in the world. She's also sailed the seven sea! Working
on cruise liners, entertaining passengers whilst travelling around the world
and included a stint in cabaret on Cunards QE2.
Gilda Kristian takes the role of Agnetha and has been performing since the
age of 4 years old. She started training with Lansford Roberts of 'The Nice Opera
Company' and 'The Lee Strasburge Theatre Institute' in London.
Gilda has performed in 'The Rat Pack' in the musical capital of London's West
End, performed as lead singer in many top productions most notably at the
'Talk Of London' . She is also a trained dancer and like Kim has worked on
cruise liners and with some of the top names in show business. Gilda is also
a member of Mensa, so I for one would want her on my quiz team!
The 'Abbagirls' perform a show with great skill and professionalism. The
harmonies are spot on, the costume changes are glamorous and as well as the
ABBA dance steps the girls throw in one or two moves of their own. Nothing
is too large or too small for the 'Abbagirls'. From large corporate shows
to festivals, to concert halls, local fund raising events, village halls,
weddings and celebration parties the 'Abbagirls' give their all and a little
bit more.
The Abbagirls have toured France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium,
Czech Republic, Qatar, United Arab Emirates Japan, Hong Kong, Australia,
New York, Las Vegas, Russia and
throughout the UK. They've shared the stage with many including Kylie Minogue,
Blue, Frank Carson, Jimmy Tarbuck,
Les Dennis, Alvin Stardust, Faith Brown, Keith Harris with Orville &
Cuddles. Played in front of large audiences
including London's Finsbury Park in front of 80,000 people. Performed three
times at the Brentwood Centre Essex to audiences over 25,000. York Races
Sandown Park, Newmarket Race Track Peterborough, East of England Showground,
The London Palladium, "Legends” Imperial Palace Hotel Las Vegas, Abba Tribute
Weekend and a long list of radio, TV and media related events and charity
gigs.
