Andante, Andante.
Biography. The "Andante Andante" Choir - also known as the ABBA choir - was the idea of Australian Allison Pyke. She had been a life long ABBA fan and seen a number of Abba tribute bands perform. Allison loved singing and hit upon the idea of putting a choir together to perform ABBA songs in a different way. It hadn't been tried before so she started talking with friends and colleagues and advertised in the local newspaper for singers to join her on this new and exciting venture. Within a couple days she had received over 40 enquiries and from there she began planning and plotting to get the choir on the road in 2004. The common cause was the enjoyment of singing and performing much loved ABBA songs, a major interest with many members of choir. First, a name was needed and Allison chose "Andante, Andante". An ABBA song title that appeared on the album "Super Trouper". The added bonus with the name was that it was also a musical term meaning 'gently'; a particularly relevant name for an ABBA choir. The choir's musical arrangements are split into four voice types, Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. The choir aims to be an enjoyable experience for all it's members and for this reason regular rehearsals are relaxed and friendly. Some join simply because they enjoy the singing each week and they chose not to perform. Other members look forward to the opportunity to get up on stage and perform at various community events. "Andante Andante" is not Acapella as they have their own pianist who attends both rehearsals and performances and choreographer too. They have a Musical Director who is also a Vocal Coach and provides training in breathing techniques, vocal skills and musical theory. "Andante, Andante" perform at local community events and at private functions. Past performances include the 50th Anniversary Treehouse in the Park at the Early Childhood Centre, Heart Foundation Fundraiser, Radford College Art Show, Eurovision Song Contest Function at Canberra Labor Club, Sacred Heart Primary School, ABC FM Sing Out Choir of the Year Competition, 666 ABC Radio, Morning Program, Channel 10 (Capital), State Focus as well as private bookings, weddings and charity events. Currently Andante Andante's repertoire consists of the following ABBA songs: Andante Andante, I Have A Dream, Mamma Mia, Money Money Money, Ring Ring, SOS, Super Trouper, Thank You For The Music, Voulez-Vous, Waterloo, and from the Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Tim Rice musical "Chess" is the hit song, I Know Him So Well.
