Abbagirls star with Jack Dee
The Abbagirls make a guest appearance on the UK TV show 'Lead Balloon'
which stars comedian Jack Dee. The episode is to be screened on BBC2 on
Thursday 2nd November at 9:30pm (GMT).
The girls are members of 'Voulez Voulez Vous' and their manager takes on
the role of Benny with another actor taking the role of Bjorn. They appear
within the first couple minutes or so of the show and you can't miss the
'obvious question' the group are asked by Jack.
X-Factor pay tribute to ABBA?
ABBA star Bjorn Ulvaeus will be appearing this weekend, Saturday 4th November,
on the X-Factor. The contestants will be performing ABBA songs - and finding
out they are not that easy to sing!! So it will be practice practice practice
for the contestants. - I wonder what Bjorn will really make of it all whilst
giving advice to the contestants preparing for the show this week and on
performance night itself?
And a peice of trivia. The group 'The Unconventionals' who were voted off
in the first week of the X-factor show. Andrew Jaymson (also known as Drew)
was a member of the original Mamma Mia! cast in 1999 in the ensemble and
understudy for 'Eddie'. He then went on to tour in the show 'Money Money
Money - The Real Story of ABBA' along with 3 other previous performers of
Mamma Mia! So he would certainly know how to sing ABBA songs if 'The Unconventionals'
had remained in the show.
The Web Site.
This is a brand new venture which will
grow and grow in popularity. At present we'd love to hear from you as
the web site is being tested for accessibility, download time, information,
ease of navigation. Changes will be made to the web site over the coming
weeks to improve the site. More bands will also be added to the Abba Tribute
Band index as bands register. Feedback and comments are always welcome,
even if it is to improve on information, access and content.
- A Guest Book for the actual web
site will be added.
- Some of the forms will also need slight
amendments made.
- The significance of the banner
is to show it is a worldwide subject. The microphones represent Agnetha
& Frida, the piano keys represent Benny whilst the guitar represents
Bjorn. ABBA pictures are not used because the web site is not about the
original foursome but bands/artistes who pay tribute to ABBA.
- A 'Frequently Asked Question' FAQ page will be added so please
send in your questions to be answered.
- Will the web site be translated into other languages? Primarily
the web site will be English but plans for other languages will be added
in the future. At present French, German, Spanish and Swedish will be
available and this will happen before Christmas 2006.
- The links page. Any links have to be relevant to the subject
matter/web site and have to be reciprocal.
- More tribute bands will be added to the web site as they
register. At present the "Abbagirls", "Andante Andante" & "Arrival"
have agreed to take part in the test run of the web site and show how the
index works. And if I need to change it then I only have 3 'site areas'
to amend rather than a dozen or so and that would be a lot of work! Abba
tribute bands links are added as long as they reciprocal with the Abba Tribute
Bands Worldwide link. (Thank you to the Abbagirls, Arrival & Andante
Andante for their help.)
If there is anything you feel we should
add to the web site or if find any of links are broken or you've have
difficulty accessing the site please let us know. We look forward to hearing
from you.
